Shee Atiká Mourns the Passing of Board Director Norma J. Perkins

November 26, 2025

It is with deep sadness that Shee Atiká announces the passing of our senior-most Board Director, Norma J. Perkins, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to our mission and shareholders.

Norma joined the board in 2019 as an independent candidate and was re-elected in 2022 and 2025. She brought decades of expertise in tribal healthcare administration and a heartfelt commitment to creating opportunities for youth and fostering connections for elders. During her tenure, Norma played a pivotal role in developing governance rules for Shee Atiká that would make our corporation more open, transparent, and fair to all shareholders.

“Norma was a woman of humor, wisdom, tenacity, love, and above all, faith,” said Shee Atiká Board Chair Steve Karpstein. “Norma loved Shee Atiká, Shee Atiká’s shareholders, and all of us. She believed in the redeeming power of love and that it could heal the brokenness that too often divides us.”

Born and raised in Sitka, AK, Norma later made her home in Wasilla, AK. A proud Shee Atiká shareholder, she was the daughter of the late Raymond C. Perkins and Rosalie H. Perkins, and the adopted daughter of the late Lucille R. Perkins. Her grandmother was the late Mary B. Perkins. Norma’s father Ray was a long-time Shee Atiká director serving from 1980 to 1983, and again from 1986 to 1992. Norma was proud that she could follow in her father’s footsteps of service to Shee Atiká’s shareholders.

Norma will be remembered for her generosity, mentorship, and devotion to family and friends.

Details regarding memorial services will be shared as they become available.
